Come with me, my friends, come on The Golden Way. The Golden Way is the story of my journey through midlife. It’s a journey that’s personal to me but I believe it follows a pattern that many would recognise.
I am here, hovering beside you like a witch on a broom-stick. There’s room on my broom for you as well. I’d love to have your company. Do hop on board.
Next step: Time to go for the jugular
Many thanks for the gift that arrived in the post today. Beautifully produced & some cracking quotes. Some people I’ve never heard of & some I’m very familiar with. For our times, I do like what Richard Rohr has to say & he hasn’t been short on words ! Well, he is a Franciscan ,,,,,, As you know, I’m having a rather trad 50th B’day dinner & I dare say I’ll be expected to make a speech. I’ll feel quite at liberty to quote from Fifty Shades of Gold ! Dx
Oh good. Thanks Brud. Glad you liked it. Quote away!
Hi Jo, I have been so touched by this warm and loving gift. There is a wealth of reading and reflection here that will take me the next 50 years to work through ! But I am enjoying reading something and thinking “Yes! This is IT!” and then coming back again a day or so later and realising that something else is speaking more deeply for me about someone or something . . . . So bless you, Jo, and your huge generous heart and your wonderful sense of humour that has kept us all smiling for as long as we have known you 🙂 with my love, Rachel xxxx
I’m SO glad you enjoyed it, Rachel, and that you have been coming back to it. I’m aware that the web isn’t the best medium for presenting material that requires a contemplative approach, so I am delighted that you have found a thought, gone away, come back and found another. I HOPED people would use the site in that way, but didn’t know if they would. Thank you. x
Jo-
When I saw the beautiful cream-coloured envelope, I was very appreciative. I thought “only nice things can come in such lovely stationary”. Little did I know, the envelope contained the most uplifting and soul nourishing little book. I devoured it on the train to London yesterday and I feel so privileged to be included in your journey. You are such a blessing in my life. Over the years I have always admired your vitality, courage and forthrightness (is that a word?) as well as your beautiful, luminous skin (What do you use? Asses’ milk?). Jo, you are my friend, mentor, heroine and sister. I look up to you in so many ways- you have no idea! I send you my love and congratulations in this, your fiftieth year and always. Thanks sis.
Love Debbie
Wow! What awesome words Debbie! Thank you. (And the feeling is mutual, by the way.) I’m glad you appreciated the envelope. I found myself very fussy about the stationery – the colour, the weight, the size. It was all part of the fun. x
Thanks. x
You’re welcome. We must talk about it all one day. x

That’s a great deal, Bean. If you look after my cat, I’ll stir the cauldron for you. Hope you like the pictures of Harry the Campervan and the quote from Winnie the Pooh.
I too loved getting the book through the post. Thank you so much for thinking of me, and for getting me thinking…
HI Jo thankyou for thinking of me and sending me a copy of Fiftyshades of Gold.I think that most women of a certain age can relate to certain passages that you quoted, but what we have to remember is that we have had our youthful days and now its time to accept our mature years and be thankful that we can.Happy birthday when it comes and i am sure the two men in your life will make it a special one.
Yes, Chris, I am indeed, very thankful. Those men, large and small, make gratitude very easy. x
